Hello there, welcome to my Cannabis blog. My name is Martin Robinson I’ve been using Cannabis for most of my life and growing it for the past five years, and enjoy sharing and learning new techniques and knowledge about it.
I grew up enraptured in the Cannabis culture of the Emerald Triangle in Nor-Cal, for me it’s always been a part of my daily life. When I was a kid, we were all very aware of the massive Cannabis crops being produced here and saw its effects on the local economy. There were never a lot of issues, sometimes there’d be big drug busts and what not but the danger always seemed to be coming from the authority versus the producers of the plants. Yeah, there was some danger of going into the back woods where the big plantations were, but that was the reality of Nor-Cal at this time. When I was in my teens I was shown a bit about breeding by a friend of mine’s brother, and I’ve been fascinated by the subject ever since, but never wanted to take the risk that they did against the feds.
I have seen many friends, and friends family members harassed and incarcerated for the simple act of growing a plant and it has always disgusted me. What did they really do to anyone? Worst case you could say they avoided taxes, but they weren’t trying to. They were trying to provide the best they could for themselves and loved ones. I see nothing wrong with that as long as no one was hurt in the process. I consider those periods the dark ages of California, at least socially speaking.
Luckily times have changed significantly since these times, the crime is lower of course, and the economy has never been better since decriminalization and medical legalization. A few years ago I decided to finally take up growing and since then my interest has expanded many times over. I love my state, and hope to see a full legalization of Cannabis in the near future here.
I’m a big reader, I like to write sometimes as a hobby thus this little blog here. Mark Twain (Clements) works have always stuck with me, plus I like to think of myself as sort of like him and hopefully more like him as time goes on. Just a plain gentleman with something a little interesting to say who enjoys a pipe from time to time. Twain also lived in a time of prohibition, it was alcohol at the time, but I believe the consequences are similar. He had this to say on the matter:
“Prohibition only drives drunkenness behind doors and into dark places, and does not cure it, or even diminish it. “
I’m of the opinion this is very true, and it’s just as obvious today as it was then. The war on drugs has done nothing to the rates of drug use, especially Cannabis which one could hardly even call a hard drug, and has only cost lives, broken homes, and wasted tax payer money.
Currently, I still live in Nor-Cal, I have traveled a bit in my youth but for the most part I’m a major homebody. I have my friends, I have my pets, I have my works, and I have my Cannabis; I feel happy enough. I’m just here to share a bit of knowledge with people if I can, give myself an outlet to talk about my favorite plant in the world, and maybe do my tiny part in fixing the reputation of Cannabis.
